The Visitor Center is now open Saturdays and Sundays only from 10 am to 4 pm, with an hour break from 1 pm to 2 pm to allow for staff to take a lunch.

Guided tour pricing

General Admission: $15

Discounted Admission (for HHS members, seniors, students and children under 13): $12

Free Admission for veterans, active military members and their families, SUNY New Paltz Students and Children 6 and under.

As part of the many benefits of membership, all members receive free admission to unlimited guided tours each season.

Visitor Information

Tour capacity is currently restricted to 12 registrants and typically lasts one hour. HHS does not require face covering or proof of COVID-19 vaccination in order to enter the Visitor Center or take a tour. We do, however, encourage and support your decision if you choose to wear appropriate face covering in order to protect others who may have underlying health conditions, who are immuno-compromised, or who may be unvaccinated. If you have specific questions about our COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, the tour experience, or site accessibility, please email tours@huguenotstreet.org.

Masks are not required when outdoors, whether you are touring the grounds with a guide, using the Walking Tour App, or simply strolling the Historic District.

Tour information

At our 10-acre National Historic Landmark District, visitors experience over 300 years of history.

During a tour of Historic Huguenot Street, visitors will explore the multicultural history of a unique American settlement, known today as New Paltz, New York. While touring three of the street’s historic structures, visitors will consider how individuals of each cultural group were affected by their physical environment and social status.

  • The replica Esopus Munsee wigwam represents the strength and sacrifices of this region’s Indigenous peoples from pre-colonial America to the present day.

  • The reconstructed 1717 French Church teaches the Hudson Valley’s multicultural beginnings, including the history of Huguenot persecution in France leading to their immigration to North America.

  • The early 18th-century Jean Hasbrouck House shares colonial life for both the free and enslaved members of the community, as well as the critical historical events that shaped the nation.

ACCESSIBILITY

Historic Huguenot Street strives to make its grounds, exhibits, and programs accessible to everyone, wherever possible, with understandable limitations given the historic nature of the buildings and grounds. For more information about the accessibility of museum houses, please contact the Main Office at (845) 255-1660.  It is helpful to inform us in advance if you plan to visit the site with someone who has limited mobility so that we can ensure we are prepared.

Service Animals

Historic Huguenot Street welcomes service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas of the site where the general public is allowed, including the historic structures.

According to the ADA, service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA, and are not permitted inside the historic structures or office buildings of HHS.

A service animal must be under the control of its handler. Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless the individual’s disability prevents using these devices or these devices interfere with the service animal’s safe, effective performance of tasks. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.

Group Arrangements

Group tours are available by prior arrangement.  Fees vary according to the scope of the tour and the number of the participants.  Minimum fees apply.  One tour leader per group will be admitted free of charge, but a donation is encouraged.  We appreciate at least two weeks’ notice for group tours of more than 12 participants. To schedule a group tour, please contact Kristine Gillespie, Retail and Tourism Manager, at kristine@huguenotstreet.org.

 
 

School Group Tours

To schedule a school group, please contact the School Programs Coordinator at education@huguenotstreet.org.

Tour and Activity: $10 per student and chaperone (minimum attendance 15 students; one free chaperone per every 10 students).
